If you are unsure if our services are right for you, you are welcome to drop us an email with any questions you might have.  One of our practitioners will then get in touch in response to your query.

To speak to someone on the phone, you can leave a message with our reception team, or email us and ask for a call back (our practitioners work with clients most of the day and so will call you back).  Email is usually the best method of contacting us as we can respond to most queries after clinic hours.

Below are some frequently asked questions about individual coaching appointments:

How long does an appointment last?

Appointments are usually 50 minutes long.  This allows us to get to know you and your situation in more depth.  Discussions are relaxed and informal (we offer tea and coffee!).  You can find out more information about costs here.

Please note, during the current Covid-19/Coronavirus situation, we are offering sessions online via Skype or Zoom.

Where are you based?

We are based in the centre of Edinburgh, with excellent public transport links (including trams!) just between St Andrews Square and Princes Street, near Waverley Station.  The more flexibility you can offer, the sooner we can arrange an appointment.  We don't recommend driving if possible, but there is some limited parking in surrounding streets.

During the Covid-19/Coronavirus, we are offering online sessions via Skype and Zoom.

Do you do any out of hours appointments?

We have a limited number of out-of-hours (after 5pm) appointments available.  Initial assessments are typically carried out on weekdays, with ongoing therapy work with one of our team at flexible times throughout the week, or career sessions and professional coaching during the week with some early evening availability.

During the Covid 19/Coronavirus, we also offer online sessions. Contact us for the latest availability.

What happens during a first appointment?

The first meeting is all about getting to know you, your situation, and the things you are wanting help with.  Your practitioner will listen to your objectives, and together you will discuss ways of meeting your goals.  At the end of the session, you will agree on an action plan.  This could involve no further contact with us, or we can arrange a series of sessions where we work together on your goals.

Is everything confidential?

As a private practice, we do exactly that - keep everything private. The only exception would be if we had a legal obligation to do so (for example, if you were about to rob a bank!).  We want clients to feel that they can talk to us about anything that is important to them.  In some rare cases (e.g. stress management situations) when we feel your GP should be informed, we usually advise you, the client, to make that contact.

Can I have a free first appointment? How much does it cost?

Our rates are based on the time a professional psychologist gives, and this includes room hire and admin costs.  We also charge for each session for ethical reasons - if the first appointment is free, a practitioner might be tempted to convince a client that more work was required, whereas one appointment might be all that is needed.  For these reasons, we do not offer a free session.  However, if you would like to know more about our services first, you can email us on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. as mentioned above, and we can email you back or give you a call to discuss your situation prior to a first appointment, with no cost or obligation.

Do you offer psychometric/occupational testing?

We are able to offer high quality, professional psychometric testing in addition to our standard coaching work.  Our lead practitioner is on the Register of Qualifications in Test Use.  Psychometrics can be used to prepare for interview, identify strenghts/comptencies, explore career interests and personality profiling.  It is important to choose the right test for the right situation and we can guide you through this if it is of interest.

You can see some sample reports here.

How do I pay for sessions? Can I pay electronically?

We accept cash or cheque, payable during the session.  If you continue to work with a practitioner for follow-up sessions, they might be able to accept electronic payments if this is easier.  You should discuss this with your practitioner.

For online sessions, payment is arranged by BACS transfer.  You can see our rates/fees here.

Your website is a bit confusing - are you a Therapy Centre or a Careers & Coaching provider?

The answer is, both!  Our co-founder is a Chartered Occupational Psychologist and Registered Coaching Psychologist.  We also have a team of psychologists/therapists.  Our approach is holistic, which means that we are happy to talk about well-being, mental health, and careers.  We believe that all areas of our life are important and so we can support people with many different needs.  To find out more about our Therapy services, visit  To find out more about our Careers & Coaching services, visit

Do you offer services that can help my staff or organisation?

Absolutely!  We would be delighted to offer support to you, your team or organisation.  Everything is tailored to suit your needs, so the best option is to get in touch and we can arrange to meet with you.  You can see more information on our website also.  We offer training, employee assistance, counselling, coaching, stress awareness, psychometric testing and more.
